Learn about our innovative and unique approach to developing leaders-who-coach
Evidence shows that leaders who coach their team members are most likely to engender behavior that is consistent with the team's objectives and allow people to bring the best of themselves to work. They actively build relationships of trust, which allow individuals to gain new perspectives on themselves and their work situation.

You don’t! Our GIZMO is not a psychometric, it is the only tool that profiles what it is people are doing, and not doing when they are leading using a coaching style. Other products call themselves psychometrics because they are examining the psychology of the person. We do not do that, so we do not consider our GIZMO to be a psychometric.
We use the branding of Coaching On the Go because we published a book with Pearson/FT in 2019, called ‘Coaching On the Go: How to lead your team effectively in 10 minutes a day’.
We believe that leadership transcends job title, hierarchy and role. So we think that more people contribute to leadership than is usually acknowledged. We have tried to find a phrase that allows us to look beyond the usual – so this is the term we use to identify the person who is using coaching skills within their everyday leadership activities – and that could be anyone.
The GIZMO is name of our online tool that we use to generate a profile of each person’s current application of the dimensions (skills) of a leader-who-coaches. We named it a GIZMO to stand apart from the crowd, and because it sounded fun.
We’re a start up, but we have more than 900 people on our database so growing fast. There is a strong foundation of global research underpinning our work, but it tends to be overlooked because most research about coaching assumes it is a distinct, process-led separately identifiable activity, rather than something woven into everyday activities.
We do not require our partners to be accredited in the way that other providers of leadership tools do. Existing partners expressed a strong desire to undergo some training to see and learn how we work with the COTG Skills Report and run our programs. We ran a highly successful initial program and hence we now offer the Getting Your Wings training as the best way to work with us.
The COTG Skills Report also takes into account the culture of the organization within which your client works and its impact on their ability to be a leader-who-coach. No other tool does this.
It is the only tool that profiles what it is people are doing, and not doing when they are leading using a coaching style. Other products call themselves psychometrics because they are examining the psychology of the person. We do not do that, so we do not consider our GIZMO to be a psychometric.
The COTG Skills Report can be used alongside other tools within a leadership development program.
If your work as an associate includes helping other firms to design leadership development programs, this will help you improve and change your designs making them more up to date and innovative.
If you have plans to set up your own business in the future, or work as an employee, this will help strengthen your capabilities and your CV.
Otherwise, please would you give us the names of people at these firms who we might contact to share our work?
The COTG Skills Report does not assess strengths and weaknesses per se and hence is less ‘judgemental’ in nature. Participants immediately perceive this and this makes them more willing to share and explore their results with others. This provides strong groundwork from which to build and enhance team dynamics.
The individual results across a cohort can be combined as a form of diagnostic to identify underlying themes and to plan future interventions. You can see the highest opportunities across a group and you can interrogate the participants perspectives on the organization’s culture. This provides great material to support team development and growth.
